Halloween in Halifax 2026: a short guide to a Saturday Halloween

A harbour party cruise, a 19+ night at the Discovery Centre, boylesque in Dartmouth and the last days of the Bluenose Ghosts haunted house. Here are the best Halloween picks in Halifax this week.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and in Halifax nearly everything worth booking happens that night. You can spend the day at a free brewery market with pumpkins, catch sunset at 6:04pm, and then pick from a DJ cruise on the harbour, Frankenstein's lab at the Discovery Centre for the 19+ crowd, or the fourth Haunt Me Harder boylesque show in Dartmouth.

This guide is short on purpose. HalifaxEnjoyHere has 17 Halloween listings for October 26 to November 1, so we've stuck to the ones worth your night rather than padding it out. One thing to plan for: Nova Scotia's clocks go back an hour at 2am on Sunday, November 1, so Halloween night runs an hour longer.

Know before you go

  • Sunset

**Sunset is at 6:04pm on Saturday**, and civil twilight ends at 6:34pm. Halifax Regional Police recommend bright, reflective costumes and a flashlight for trick-or-treaters.

  • Timing

**The clocks go back at 2am on Sunday, November 1.** Several parties are listed as ending at 2am, and that night 1am to 2am happens twice. If your ride or last bus matters, check with the venue.

  • Getting there

**Buses run their normal Saturday schedule.** Halloween isn't on Halifax Transit's list of reduced-service holidays. Check your route's last trip before you go out.

  • Weather

**It will be cold.** Open-Meteo's latest run (late Oct 25) shows a dry Saturday with a high near 9°C and about 5°C at 6pm. Check Environment Canada closer to the day.

  • Timing

**Trick-or-treat with care:** go down one side of the street and back up the other, stay in well-lit areas, and have an adult check candy before anyone eats it. That's the advice from Halifax Regional Police.
